Live Transcoding Service
The procedure for opening a live transcoding service for a customer to provide a live ultra-low latency streaming service in the target service area is as follows:
1. Set up a service channel for live transcoding.
2. Select the specification of the system (VM) that performs live transcoding.
3. Set up an application accelerator that performs live streaming services in the global user area.
4. Set up storage and alarms to store transcoded live images.
5. After checking the information, follow the further steps to open the service.
To open a live ultra-low latency streaming service, you should create a global application accelerator (GA Setting = On).
A service opening wizard is provided in order to create a live transcoding service and set it up as follows.
Getting Started with Live Transcoding Service Setup Wizard
From the Live Transcoder menu, click 'Create Channel' to launch the Create Channel wizard.

How to set up a live transcoding service channel
Set up a transcoding service channel that performs live transcoding.
a. Sets the name of the channel.
b. Set the length (in seconds) of the MPEG-2 transport stream segment when creating live streaming.
c. The number of segments to keep in the manifest (.m3u8) file during live streaming.
- As the segment length and number of segments increase, the delay between image transmission and image playback increases.
d. Convert the Timed Metadata Signal of the RTMP to the HLS ID3 Timed Metadata.
e. Specify the output profile set for live streaming. After checking the output profile supported by each Profile Set, you can select the desired Profile Set.

Live Transcoding Device Settings
Set the transcoder(transcoding device) specifications to provide live transcoding.

Currently, the live transcoding service is only available in the Tokyo Region of IBM Cloud, and we will expand the service coverage area in the future.
Global Application Accelerator Settings
Set up a Global Application Accelerator to provide live ultra-low latency streaming services for service users in the global region. (For more details, please refer to Global Application Acceleration Service)
a. Enable/Disable Global Application Accelerator.
b. Select the cloud service region where live transcoder is operating as the Endpoint Region.
c. Select the cloud service region closest to your global service users as the Listener Region.

To provide live ultra-low latency streaming service, GA Setting must be set to 'On'.
Live Media and Alarm Settings
Set object storage and service alarm to save transcoded live video.
a. Enable or disable Time machine function to revert live video stream.
b. Set object storage information to save live video.
. Enter the object storage URI.
. Enter the API authentication key to access the object storage.
. Enter the bucket name to save in object storage
. Enter the directory name to save the live video.
c. If the alarm is 'On', you can receive alarms and event messages that occur while service is provided.

Start opening a service
After checking all the configurations, press the 'Create Channel' button to proceed with service opening.
Please note that Device, GA, and Storage settings cannot be changed after the channel is created.
It may take about 6 to 10 minutes to complete service channel creation. (The service channel will operate normally only after device, GA creation, and storage linkage are all completed.)
